Paperwork

It is amazing how much paperwork has to be done after someone dies. There are many documents to gather – birth certificates, marriage certificates, service discharge papers, income tax records, Social Security records, 401K records, bank records, and death certificate copies.

I’ve spent the past weeks gathering records and sending forms and records to various agencies. It is a good thing to keep busy.

I do have a comfort zone. My stash sits waiting for me to plunge in and start creating something positive. Thank goodness I have a bountiful stash because my fabric forays are going to be limited in the future.

I want to thank all the people who commented on my last two posts. Your words have kept me going.

A celebration, indeed

The floral arrangement at Robert’s memorial service yesterday was lovely.

The people at Good Scents understood just what was needed. There were wheat stalks symbolizing Robert’s bread making while tules and cattails evoked his island home and the blue iris carried out the water theme. Pear leaves represented the pears he used for his special jam while the red roses stood in for the strawberries. See Jam Session.

The service at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Brentwood was all that I could ask – a true celebration of Robert’s life.

Robert Thresh

My dear husband Robert hung up his "She Quilts, I Cook" apron yesterday afternoon.

He has been my mainstay for 46 years. He passed on peacefully after a short illness which struck him on March 30. Occasionally I’ve bragged on this blog about the wonderful things he created in the kitchen. He was a splendid provider and did all the shopping and cooking for our home.

There is a webpage with some of his recipes which you can visit by clicking on Cooking with Robert. His favorite jam recipe was strawberry-pear (substitute strawberries for the blackberries in the recipe on his page).

Who will fill his size 14 shoes?
