Flashback Friday -- Poplar
In August 1991 we “rescued” a poplar sucker that was about to be chopped down in our neighborhood. We brought it home and planted it.
As the years went by it grew bigger.
This morning, I wished it a happy 17th birthday.

Happy Birthday Poplar!
They are grown in New Zealand as wind breaks, though of course they lose their leaves in winter. They are apparently very good for fruiting crops such as grapes, & kiwi fruit, since the plants need sun in winter.
Looks like a happy tree...its fun to see its growth over the years ;)
