Last May, we finally completed the Office/Workway/Sewing Room project. There were books that did not get put away.
A few! Books here, books there…. Some beside the bed, some piled in corners, some under tables. We were going to get around to sorting them soon. Here it is 2009 and we still have not found a place to put them. We don’t have any room for new bookcases.
Hm-m-m-m, my friends think I have way too many books, but you have me beat - hands down! I am surprised at the laundry basket! I only have stacks, piles and boxes full. How come you don't have a 'Books I have read' list on your blog? Inquiring minds want to know?
A "Books I Have Read" list would take up all my blogging space. I am so glad I learned to read. I decided to marry my husband when I checked his bookshelves. We had many of the same books. We've lived happily ever after. The laundry basket slides around easily and has handles -- much easier than picking up a box of books. It does look terrible, though.
Funny...I pictured you using the books for table legs and other such things. Maybe it's time for a yard sale???
Warty Mammal has it right, laundry basket are for all sorts of things, including sleeping babes, besides dirty clothes! {my mom got me a nice rectangle basket for Ben to sleep in the first few weeks...who needed a bassinet?}
Remember that *IF* you donate the books to the local library, to get a receipt for them. My accountant claims $1 donated value for each paperback. I don't know how much the hardback books count for on taxes as donations.
We are born to cloth. It is the second thing we touch after our mother.
I am a quilter. My first memory is a Noah’s Ark quilt. Mr. and Mrs. Noah, the Ark, and all the animals walking toward the boat on a curving path, were appliquéd on it. The back of the quilt was yellow with red flowers. I could re-draw that quilt today from memory.
I didn’t know I was a quilter until 1994. Before that I had a huge fabric collection.

Your disease has spread and hit my household. I admire your laundry basket solution. Who needs baskets for actual laundry, anyhow?

My sons always draped books over the arms of chairs and sofas like literary antimacassars. We called our interior design style "Early Readers".
