Today I bought a Qur'an

With all the controversy in the air, today seemed a good day to buy a Qur’an. I’ve never read it. I’ll try now, and then I’ll put it on my shelf here:

I've been trying, over the past week or two, to think of what the true opposite of intolerance is. I thought I had it with "compassion" but I think it might also be you!

Good for you.
Why are people so afraid of what they don't know anything about, don't understand, and don't care to learn about? For me, if it is someone's holy book, then it should be respected. Period. The whole thing makes me think of the song from South Pacific: You've got to be taught to hate and fear.

When I looked at your illustration, I thought it was a quilt block. Now I'm wondering what sort of religious tolerance quilt Winnowings might design.
